Ote-ote is also called weci, bala bala, vegetable bakwan, pia-pia, and yeye. This can happen because ote-ote is widely cooked in various regions in Indonesia. So that between one region and another has a different designation. Ote-ote is a snack made from various vegetables which are cut in small lengths, then mixed with flour and seasoning mixture, then fried until the outside texture is crispy. Commonly used vegetables are carrots, cabbage, and sprouts.

Ote-ote is usually eaten with chili and shrimp paste sauce. In Indonesia, we can buy ote-ote in various places, from sellers on the side of the road or in stalls at low prices, even in restaurants. At street vendors or at ote-ote stalls it is usually sold with other fried dishes, which are commonly referred to as "fried" dishes. Fried itself in English is fried.
